I just got an email from T-Mobile:
Dear T-Mobile HotSpot customer:
We are pleased to announce that T-Mobile HotSpot has launched a set of new rate plans designed to allow customers to Get More from the Internet. The new rate plans offer many enhancements including removal of airport surcharges and data transfer limits as well as unlimited access to the entire T-Mobile HotSpot network — all at the same low rate you are paying today.
Not that I’ve ever come near the transfer limit (would have come close this month, actually) or have used the service outside of Connecticut, but it’s nice to know that now I can. They’re automatically converting my account to the new rate plan, effective tomorrow. I know they’re only doing this because the HotSpot service has not taken off as they had hoped, but I’ll take it. I don’t know what I would have done without it these past few months of being “homeless.”

Eric and I just discovered that the T-Mobile “hotspot” at Starbucks doesn’t stop at the coffee house door. Eric met me at Starbucks and we went to the deli 3 doors down for lunch, and on a whim I opened my laptop at the restaurant and the Starbucks tmobile SSID appears! So now Eric and I are sitting here, finishing our lunch and working at the same time. How geeky is that? ![]()

Last night I bought a selection of interior design magazines. I have a very clear picture in my head of what I want each room to look like, I just can’t seem to find it in print (I guess that’s a good thing). As my vision is focusing, I realized that I made the completely wrong decision for the master bedroom light fixture and I’m going back to the lighting store tomorrow to pick out something else. The light we bought is a 2 bulb hanging thing in thin gold. It’s nice, but I’m going for a crisp, yet soothing look for the master bedroom and the fixture we picked is just too harsh. I want something closer to the ceiling, with more light. The carpet is a forest green, the paint color is a muted green. Our furniture is oak (we got it shortly after we got married 10 years ago). I want a light fixture that is cool and light but more of a presence in the room (it’s a big room). The windows and bedding will have some green tones but will be mostly white/yellow to lighten up and contrast with the darker carpet. The master bath will have a richer, more earth-tone feel while retaining the green theme started in the master bedroom. I’m really having a lot of fun imagining the little details of each room. Eric is giving me free reign, as long as I let him do whatever he wants to his office. Fine with me. My challenge is to make each room look different while keeping a similar feel throughout the house.
Because of how much we spent at the store, they may be willing to take the fixture back as an exchange but I’m not holding my breath. It was a floor model. At least it was on sale and we didn’t spend that much on it (which is probably why I went for it against my instincts). Look for it at an eBay auction near you in the coming months. I haven’t even taken it out of the box it’s in.
*Update:* They took it back!

This was posted on a parenting mailing list I’m on…

I first joined Weight Watchers in 1978, so I remember similar cards.
