As far as I’m concerned, the Housing Development Fund job is done. I picked up match prints this morning and except for two photos that need some opening up, everything looks great. They’re having a big event tomorrow so we ended doing a smaller run via digital output through a local printer. Unfortunately, in the quick run one section had some banding in a gradient that I can’t do anything about. It doesn’t kill the piece, and it looks great in the proof that will be offset in a larger quantity so we’re going to live with it. The client seems happy with the result, and that’s what matters.
I’ve been doing this for a while, and I still get such a thrill when a job comes together. I get a new client or a new assignment, I meet with the client and my first thought is usually, “How the @#$@ will I pull this off?” and then it begins to make sense and take shape until it leads to finished pieces that I’m proud to put in my portfolio. (yes, that’s a link to a new page on my site with images from this job) At times like this there is nothing else I’d rather be doing professionally. Actually, I can’t think of anything else I’d rather be doing at any other time either. ![]()
