catching up

June 18, 2003

I feel like I have so much to blog about, but time and life are moving too quickly for me to stop and type about it. This is Laini’s last week of first grade. The girls start camp on Monday. Hard to believe summer is starting this weekend and it doesn’t feel like spring has sprung yet. Emily is at a playdate today so I have some time to catch up. Tonight Eric and I are going to a Stamford Chamber of Commerce party. I enjoy these things because the last time I went with Eric I got a client out of it.

I finished a bid for a job I hope I get. A fellow “ballet mom” is also someone who had skills before she gave birth and is now in freelance marketing. Her client needs some graphics work, including a basic website. It’s a mom ‘n pop operation in south Florida. My fingers are crossed because it will be nice to work with this lady and this momma needs her new G4 this summer.

I’m still trying to get a decent type catalog out of this stupid computer.

SPED*NET New Canaan, a Special Education parent support group like SCOPES and run by a great group of woman has asked me to do their catalog for an upcoming professional conference. I’ve agreed to do it pro-bono in exchange for a credit.

Right now the painter is here doing the last few touch-ups. The shower doors in the downstairs bathroom are in but they still need to be caulked. The garage needs sheetrocking, cleaning and doors. The end is in sight. We got our tax bill and the assessment is based on the old house. Stamford is re-evaluating so we got this letter last week. In summary… “Here’s what we have for your house: 4 bedroom, 3 bath, 1800 sq. ft. ranch. If this is right, ignore this note otherwise make corrections and send back to us. We’ll decided whether we need to pay a visit based on the corrections.” We corrected it to 4 bedroom, 4 bath, colonial (honestly not sure of the square footage, guess is around 3500) and sent it back. Do you think Stamford will feel they need to visit? Yeah, I think so too. I plan to argue that we never had a 4 bedroom house. There is a tiny room downstairs off the garage that is essentially a storage room. Yes, there’s a bathroom near it but no closet in the room and it’s next to the boiler. No heat or air conditioning down there. I decided not to count it in the corrected form.
