I ordered (or so I thought) a Treo 600 from Cingular on December 22. For the heck of it, I decided to call today and find out the status of the shipment. I was hoping to receive it as early today, maybe next week. After all, I was told that they were in stock and expected 5-7 day shipping. Ha!
Today, I was told that although there was a record of my placing an order on the 22nd, it was only in the comments area on their computer…as someone had typed “placed an order” but didn’t actually do anything else. I had given them a credit card number (which I just checked and it hasn’t been charged). There was no order number or shipping status. All she could do was give me the “telesales” phone number. I called and found out that there is no record that I placed an order at all. And what’s worse, the Treo 600 is “several thousand units” in backorder. Even if I got in the queue right now, it will probably be months before it arrives. ::sigh:: Oh well. My Palm m515 works fine and I’ll just continue along with it and my current phone for a while until these things are easier to get. There is one Treo 600 for Cingular on eBay and it’s already way over what I would spend buying direct so no way. The Cingular units are “optimized” for the Cingular network so I wouldn’t want to get a phone from another source.
