I’m sitting here and the phone rings. I see on the caller ID: “CT Republicans” I know immediately they are *not* calling to speak to me. A few years ago, Eric played with the idea of running for the Board of Education. For various reasons, he switched his party affiliation from Democrat to Republican that year. Just that year. But that landed him on a few mailing lists.
So I answer the phone.
“Hello”
“Hi, May I speak to Mr. Sohn”
“Well, I knew you weren’t calling for me. I’m sorry, Mr. Sohn isn’t in. May I take a message?”
“I’m calling from the Connecticut Republicans and I’m calling to see if Mr. Sohn is planning to support the President in the election this year.”
“Not if he wants to stay married.”
The guy laughed and had a good sense of humor about it. I explained that my husband was a registered Republican for about 5 minutes. I told him that I would pass on the message to my husband, but it would probably be a good idea to remove our phone number from their call lists.
