Whatta week I’m having!

I haven’t blogged in a bit. Only been 5 days, but it feels like years. So much has happened in the past few days, I hardly know where to start. Some of which I can’t talk about here yet because there is information I need to share with folks face-to-face before they read it on my website.

You know you’ve had a crazy week when your brother-in-law (Eric’s younger brother) is in the ICU with a brain tumor and that’s just one of the things going on (not everything is *this* bad, some is even a bit good…just have to be careful what I say now). But it is the most immediate…and the most scary at this moment. He is only 40 years old. He has a wife and two beautiful girls. Apparently he had been having headaches for a few months and because he’s young and most headaches in young, generally healthy yuppie-types turn out to be nothing but stress his doctor suggested Aleve and he went about his business. It was his eye doctor that noticed trouble and sent him for a MRI which found a tumor in the right parietal lobe. He’s been in the hospital since Friday night. Eric and I spent most of yesterday at the hospital with Eric’s family. I’m sitting by the phone waiting to hear from my sister-in-law what the neurosurgeon says is the next step. The girls are with my Mom, since we have to be ready to rush back to the hospital.

Prayers and good thoughts gratefully accepted.

Update: Surgery is scheduled for Wednesday (January 19).

And you most certainly have them Judi. May angels be with you and your family.

Someone on my team at work was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm after similar symptoms this past spring. It was really scary — one day he was at work, the next day he had a doctor’s appointment, and the next thing we knew he was in intensive care. Fortunately, the operation was successful and he’s since come back to work, but there was a long and complicated recovery and there are things he’ll never be able to do again.

Anyway, best wishes, and good luck. I hope the tumor is treatable, and that he gets through everything OK.

Thanks guys. He came home from the hospital yesterday and is recovering well. We’re still keeping our fingers crossed about the long term prognosis!
