A website I designed went “live” yesterday. The client is a friend of mine who bought a bed & breakfast in Starlight, PA with her husband and a family friend.
Eric, the girls and I spent Christmas weekend at the Inn as guests of my friend so I could get a feel for the place and take a few pictures. It’s a beautiful, old-fashioned bed & breakfast where you would go to “get away from it all.” The restaurant was fabulous and the whole place had a comfortable, warm & friendly feeling that I felt the old site did absolutely nothing to convey.
This was the [old site](http://www.innatstarlightlake.com/oldsite) done by the previous owners:

I worked with a [writer](http://wayswriter.com/) to present more information on the front page and make it warmer. Much, much warmer. The inn is “dated” but in a cozy, step-back-in-time sort of way and that was my inspiration for creating [this site](http://www.innatstarlightlake.com):

The design is straight-forward, valid XHTML/CSS of course. I learned a few new tricks in working with rounded corners and some light (very light) PHP. There is more information to come (restaurant menus, special events, area tie-ins, etc.) so I wanted a design that would scale easily depending on the content added. Here’s an inside page:
