I tried to click on my MovableType Activity Log and it was no-go with a server error. The problem wasn’t the [Intermittent 500 Server error](http://www.sixapart.com/movabletype/news/2005/07/intermittent_500_server_.html) reported on the MT news page since I don’t use CPanel. The problem, I knew immediately, was that my log had gotten too big.
How do you clean it out if you can’t load it to get to the “reset” button? [MovableType support forum to the rescue](http://www.movabletype.org/support/index.php?s=8fcfe548a6d352351f142307fb6170d2&act=ST&f=8&t=52340&st=0&#entry224097). The forum entry points to [this page](http://www.thegirliematters.com/tips/archives/0505/add_shortcut_to_reset_activity_log.php) which did the trick.
I blame my out of control log on [SpamLookup](http://bradchoate.com/projects/spamlookup/), an otherwise good plug-in that generates an activity log entry for each trackback/comment it bounces.
MovableType 3.2 is [coming out soon](http://www.sixapart.com/movabletype/news/2005/06/movable_type_32_is_comin.html) and I can’t wait as there’s [the promise and hope](http://www.sixapart.com/pronet/weblog/2005/07/the_feedback_ra.html) that the junk comment/trackback problem will be licked once and for all.
